DOC - 2018

Production Area

San Marco, Montefalcione

Ruby red wine with intense and decidedly fruity organoleptic characteristics. On the palate, it is dry, warm, pleasantly tannic, and of great structure.

After 9 months of refinement in steel and then at least 18 months in the bottle, it can be appreciated for its characteristics and evolve over time towards spicy notes and ripe fruit aromas.

The grapes destined for the production of this wine come exclusively from Vigna San Marco.

The extreme northern spur of the Monti Picentini, Monte Tuoro, along with Terminio, delimits the vast hilly area of Irpinia dedicated to the cultivation of Taurasi and Fiano di Avellino wines. It is a limestone massif with widespread karst phenomena, occasionally covered by volcanic material.

With its majestic profile and an altitude ranging from 800 to 1432 meters, Monte Tuoro influences the creation of a favorable environment for the native grape varieties of Irpinia. The wooded hectares of beech, maple, and chestnut trees, with lush vegetation that extends beyond the rocky stretches up to the summit, help to mitigate the extreme temperature peaks during dry and hot summer periods and release slope breezes during the night hours. Its presence guarantees significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, ideal for a gradual and balanced ripening process of the grapes. Its rugged and rocky profile, lush and vibrant in the summer and snow-covered in winter, narrates the perfect balance of the vine’s life cycle, from winter dormancy to the pruning tears, from flowering to the gradual development of its cluster.

Monte Tuoro is part of the Monti Picentini Regional Park and the Terminio-Cervialto Mountain Community.
